With over eight years of experience in the beauty industry, Yara Kingdon-Barbosa has worked with a diverse range of clients, helping them look and feel their best. Whether creating a natural, glowing bridal look or crafting bold, dramatic makeup for editorial shoots, Yara’s mission is to enhance each client’s unique beauty.

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Yara grew up immersed in the rich culture of her Brazilian heritage. Her childhood was a mix of time spent in her father’s martial arts gym, painting her nails fluorescent pink, and sketching realistic portraits of celebrities. During her teenage years, Yara developed a passion for dance, which she pursued seriously, while simultaneously honing her makeup skills on herself and her friends.

 

Initially planning to pursue a career as a professional dancer after high school, Yara decided to enroll in a makeup course as a complementary skill. She completed her industry professional makeup certification at Artists at Play, and it was during this time that she discovered her true calling. Dancing soon became a side pursuit as makeup artistry grew into her full-time passion.

 

 

Yara’s journey began with five years on the counters of Bobbi Brown and MAC Cosmetics, where she refined her techniques, gained invaluable experience, and established her distinct artistic style. In 2020, she transitioned to freelancing full-time, a decision that marked the start of a fulfilling and dynamic career.

 

Since then, Yara has lectured aspiring makeup artists, contributed to campaigns for renowned brands such as Mermade Hair and Puma, collaborated on music videos for international artists and her work has taken her to both Europe and Asia. Despite these achievements, her greatest joy lies in bridal and event makeup, where she builds meaningful relationships with her regular clients.

 

Yara takes pride in creating an inclusive environment, celebrating beauty in all its forms—across every age, gender, and race. Helping clients feel like the best version of themselves and witnessing their confidence flourish is the most rewarding aspect of her work.
